January 15-18: Central Coast Folk Festival
The holidays may be over, but the festivities are just heating up as the Central Coast Folk Festival strums into San Luis Obispo County January 15-18 (Martin Luther King Day weekend). The four-day event celebrates the American heritage of music, food and art with more than 19 live concerts in intimate settings - many free, pre-fixe vittles dinners and other fun events taking place at Boutique Hotel Collections five San Luis Obispo County properties.

February 6: Father & Daughter Dance - .pdf Brochure
This brand new event is for young ladies ages 3 to 18 and the man in their lives (Dad!). We are proud to host a semi-formal evening of dancing and fun. Pre-registration is required by Feb. 1 to this enjoyable evening from 6 pm. to 8:30 pm. on Friday, February 6th. Tickets include snacks, beverages, flowers for dads date, and a keepsake photo. Tickets: $18 per couple; each additional child in the same family is $7 (an adult male must accompany each young lady). Held at the Pismo Beach Veteran's Hall.

April 11: Easter Egg Hunt - Video Clip Held at Dinosaur Caves Park
The City of Pismo Beach Recreation Division in collaboration with the Pismo Beach Business Improvement Group (BIG) would like to invite you to the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 11 th , 2009 from 10:00am 1:00pm. The festivities will be held at Dinosaur Caves Park, Shell Beach & the hunt is FREE! The celebration will include games, bounce houses, face painting, balloon artist & much more!
Participants are asked to bring their own basket or bag to collect their eggs and goodies! In addition, if everyone uses their good manners, the Easter Bunny will be visiting & may even be on-site for photo opportunities so be sure to bring your cameras!
To ensure the safety of all participants, there are different hunt times for different age groups! The hunt times will be as follows:

A total of 500 tickets will be sold for the event this year. The event will be held under a large tent in Dinosaur Caves Park. August 8: Stride with the Tide 5K Fun Run
Race: starts at 9:00am Rain or Shine. The course is out and back on the sand starting at the Pismo Beach Pier. Walkers are welcome.
Registration: 7:30 am - 8:45 am at the pier on race day. No pre-registration.
Checks: payable to the City of Pismo Beach.
Entry Fee: $15 with shirt, $10 without shirt. T-shirts will be available to the first 100 entrants who request them. Shirt size will be accommodated in order of entry.
Awards: medals for the top three places in 10 age divisions.

October 11: City To The Sea Half-Marathon & 5K Course/Weather Course
Point to point starts in quaint downtown San Luis Obispo and heads south, continuing on beautiful country roads to picturesque Shell Beach Road. The last two miles are slightly downhill with a stunning ocean view. The race finishes in Pismo Beach at Dinosaur Caves Park. The course has very slight inclines and runs only a few feet downhill to sea level. Average high temperature in San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach during late October is 75 degrees. No pets or stroller/joggers allowed on the 1/2 marathon course.
5K Health Walk:
The 5k health walk course is an out and back paved course starting at Dinosaur Caves and following the 1/2 marathon course out and back from the finish. No pets allowed on the course, however, baby stroller/joggers are permitted (5k only).
Safety:
The course will only be open for three hours. Walkers must finish within that time period to participate in the half-marathon. Walkers that start before the race starting time will NOT be allowed through the finish chute. Sorry, no baby strollers, baby joggers, pets, or skates allowed on the course 1/2 marathon course, however strollers and baby joggers are allowed on the 5k course. Considerations made for runners with special needs. The course is suitable for wheelchair athletes.

October 31: Pumpkins on the Pier - Video Clip
The special Halloween celebration, Pumpkins on the Pier, will take place from 10am 1pm at the Pismo Beach Pier. A Trick or Treat Extravaganza will take place from 12pm 2pm in local downtown businesses. If it rains, the event will be held at the Shell Beach Veteran's Memorial Building, 230 Leeward Street. Children 12 and under can participate in a costume contest and pumpkin decorating contest. There will be pumpkin decorating, climbing wall, bounce house, a balloon typhoon, face painting, carnival games, D.A.R.E., Fire Truck, and a lot of excitement. The pumpkin decorating contest for the most creative, funniest, and scariest pumpkins will start at 11am. The Costume contest will start approximately around 11:30am ending at 12:10pm. The costume categories are as follows: Most original, scariest, funniest, and most decked out. An adult costume contest will follow. The Pismo Beach Recreation Division and the Pismo Beach Business Improvement Group (B.I.G.) sponsor this event. It is offered free to the community.

December 4th: Holiday Harmony and the Holiday Tree Lighting - Video Clip
Holiday Harmony will take place from 6pm 8pm in Downtown Pismo Beach at the Beach Bum Holiday Rental parking lot (off of Dolliver & Pomeroy). Kids will have fun with fresh snow, a bounce house, crafts and cookie decorating. There will also be live music for all to enjoy. Santa will be in Santa's Village on this night! The Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the Pismo Beach Pier. Join Santa & Carolers downtown at the Beach Bum Holiday Rental parking lot at 5:30 p.m. before he makes his way to the tree lighting ceremony on a fire truck. Participants can enjoy hot drinks and listen to carols as the tree is lit. A Polaroid picture of Santa will be available at no charge immediately following the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in Santa's Village, as the fun continues in the Holiday Harmony Event!
